Wade House's 'The Big Bundle Up' Charity Drive
Monday, November 25, 2013 - Saturday, January 04, 2014 10 am–4 pm Wednesday through Saturday, 11 am–4 pm Sundays
Wade House historic site in Greenbush invites residents to drop off new or gently used coats, sweaters, hats, mittens and other warm clothing items as part of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism's "The Big Bundle Up" charity campaign. "The Big Bundle Up" is a statewide collection program running now through January 4, 2014. This is the third year of the program. Last year's program collected more than 17,000 winter items to help warm up families in need.
In addition to Wade House, other collection sites are located throughout the state. Visit TravelWisconsin.com for a full listing of donation sites. With the spirit of the holiday season upon us, donating winter items is the perfect way to give back. A donation box will be located in the new Wade House Visitor Center and Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum for donors to drop off warm clothing items. All items donated at this location will be given to Safe Harbor and Bridgeway House in Sheboygan and Solutions Center and Support Services in Fond du Lac.
No admission fee for donation drop offs
Venue: Wade House
Wade House, an 1860s stagecoach inn built to serve traffic along the plank road that connected Fond du Lac and Sheboygan, tells the story of frontier entrepreneur Sylvanus Wade and his family during the Civil War years. In addition to the inn, the historic site includes the recently reconstructed Herrling sawmill, one of the few working, water-powered sawmills of its kind in the nation. Wade House is also home to the Wesley Jung Carriage Museum, which houses the state's largest collection of antique carriages and working wagons.
