Spring Events

90s Trivia Night

Saturday, Feb. 29 | 6 PM – 9 PM

Celebrate a different historic era at this special 1990s themed event featuring signature 90s drinks, trivia, pop culture artifacts, a DJ, and board games. This is a ticketed event hosted in the Carriage Museum. Tickets are $20 per person and include admission to the museum, one drink, appetizers, and access to all activities. Enjoy a delicious hearth-cooked meal, prepared with your own hands, in the historic Wade House stagecoach hotel! Guests prepare 19th-century dishes on a wood-burning stove and over an open hearth fire just as Mrs. Wade did more than 150 years ago. This event culminates in a wonderful sit-down meal in the lovely Wade House dining room. There are only 16 spots available, so act fast!

Basic Blacksmithing Workshops

Strike while the iron is hot! Forge your own knife, and learn the basics of blacksmithing from our skilled artisans at this special workshop in the 1800s Dockstader Blacksmith Shop. Advance registration is required. There are only 10 spots available, so act fast!

Buffalo Bill Show – Opening Weekend

A local favorite returns to Wade House bringing the thrill and excitement of fast horses, trick riding, and fancy shooting. Recreating the Wild West shows of more than 100 years ago, the program will contain music, narration, and a fast-paced show that will keep the audience on the edge of their seats. With characters so authentic, viewers will leave the show feeling like they actually saw Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley and other legends of the day.

Dairy Days

Celebrate National Dairy Month with hands-on activities that commemorate Wisconsin’s important dairy history, including hand-cranking ice cream maker, hand-churning butter, and more! The kitchens will be busy as staff and guests take turns working dashes and cranks until their arms get weary. Guests will be rewarded for their hard work with a sample of the dairy products that they helped to make. In addition to making butter and ice cream, Wade House staff will also demonstrate the craft of cheese making.

Breakfast at the Inn

Summer Camps

June – August

Give your child the experience of the Greenbush countryside at the Wade House Summer Camps. These camps will be adventure-filled, educational, and will teach campers the wonders of their town and state. Wade House offers camps from June through August with programming for kids ages 6-13.

Carriage Driving Days

Saturday, July 18 | 10 AM – 5 PM
Sunday, July 19 | 11 AM – 5 PM 

See horses of every size, shape, and color hitched to elegant carts and carriages as they compete for division championships. Take a horse-drawn wagon ride from the Visitor Center over to the competition ring and watch many different breeds of horses hitched to all types of carriages; antiques, reproductions and modern vehicles will be shown. Visitors can sit right next to the ring and watch the action up close, feeling the footfalls of the horses as they steam around the ring showing off their different gaits at the subtle command of their drivers.

Arts, Crafts, and Trades Fair

Sunday, Aug. 30 | 10 AM – 4 PM

Shop at over 80 vendor booths, watch the demonstrations from some of the state’s top artisans, enjoy food trucks, listen to live music, and explore the historic site! The Wade House Annual Arts and Crafts fair is one of the oldest fairs in eastern Wisconsin.  The exhibitors employ a variety of mediums including creative metal art, painting, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, printmaking, jewelry, fiber art, glass, wood, leather, and photography.

Civil War Weekend

Saturday, Sept. 26 | 9 AM – 4 PM

Experience the largest Civil War re-enactment in Wisconsin during two action-filled days at the 30th annual Wade House Civil War Weekend. Guests will have a hands-on look at 19th-century battles, military drills, medical care situations, period music, food, demonstrations, educational presentations and more. In a scene reminiscent of what took place during the Civil War, cavalry, artillery, and infantry representing both sides of the conflict will conduct demonstrations at 11 a.m. each day, followed by a full-scale battle at 2 p.m.

Autumn Celebration

Explore Wisconsin’s unique harvest-season traditions first-hand and participate in fun hands-on activities throughout the weekend. Carve a North American jack-o-lantern (using pumpkins) or a traditional Irish jack-o-lantern using turnips. Dip your own candles. Experience the dying of sheep wool using dye made from the Wade House’s own flower garden. Play snap apple in the blacksmith shop. Enjoy a nice cup of warm apple cider in the hotel’s 19th-century kitchen.

Wade House Christmas

Christmas traditions have changed drastically over the years, but most modern customs still reflect historic practices. Guests of Wade House can step back in time and explore these historic traditions at a special holiday event.  The halls of the historic Wade House Stagecoach Hotel will be decked out for the Christmas season, showcasing how the Wade Family and their many visitors would have celebrated the festive season. Engaging holiday activities will be available around the site, including live period music, tasty holiday treats, cookie decorating, performances by high school choral groups, crafts, and games. Horse-draw wagon rides will be available if weather permits.
