About the Summer Season

During the summer season visitors take a horse-drawn wagon ride to access the entire site, including:

  • Wade House Stagecoach Hotel
  • Dockstader Blacksmith Shop
  • Herrling Sawmill

About the Winter Season

  • Historic areas are closed during the winter, including the Wadehouse Hotel, Blacksmith Shop and Sawmill.
  • During the winter season, visitors have access to the Visitor Center and the Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum.
  • Closures: Visitor Center and Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum are closed on the following holiday dates: November 23-24, December 24-26, and December 31-January 1

Butternut Café : “Closed”

  • From Milwaukee

    Take US-43 north to WI-57 north (Exit 97). Continue on WI-57 to WI-23 in Plymouth. Head west on WI-23 approximately six miles to Greenbush, following signs to the site.

  • From Madison

    Take WI-151north to Fond du Lac. Take the WI-23/Johnson Street exit. Take WI-23 east approximately 17 miles to Greenbush, following signs to the site.

  • From Green Bay or Appleton / Fox Cities

    Take US-41 south to WI-23 in Fond du Lac. Take WI-23 east approximately 20 miles to Greenbush, following signs to
    the site.

  • From Chicago

    Take I-294/I-94 north to Milwaukee. Continue through the city on US-43, exiting onto WI-57 north (Exit 97). Continue on WI-57 to WI-23 in Plymouth. Head west on WI-23 approximately six miles to Greenbush, following signs to
    the site.

Accessibility

Wheelchair Access

Wade House is located on 240 acres near the Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Many pathways are level but somewhat rugged.

Due to the scale used in our historic buildings, access to the Wade House Inn and Herling Sawmill is somewhat limited. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals requiring mobility assistance. While no pets are allowed on the museum grounds, service animals are permitted for persons with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
